Sometimes we’re lucky enough to work on a project that is something a little bit out of the ordinary. The Photon Project by Cantifix is one of those such projects.

“The Photon Project is a unique and important four year study into the biological effects of light and the development of healthy ‘Photon Living’ solutions for all types of buildings. The aim of the project is to generate innovations for improving Health and Well Being in built environments and ultimately improve the living and working conditions of millions of people throughout the World.”

The Project:

For the launch of this project a prototype, all glass Photon Pod has been built outside The Building Centre, London WC1, as part of the London Design Festival 2013. We were first approached back in June to create a CGI photomontage of this installation. The visuals would be used in Cantifix’s own marketing material and to appear in the London Design Festival  guide book and website.

CG Work:

Working from a basic supplied 3D model and excellent high resolution photography we worked up the CGI photomontage seen above. Adding plants, landscaping and a seating area to give the feeling of how the completed installation was going to look.

In addition to the prototype Photon Pod installation outside The Building Centre on Store Street, there will also be The Photon Symposium taking place on the 16th and 17th of September. This will feature presentations and discussion sessions. For this, Cantifix asked us to produce a new conceptual CGI of Their Photon House.

This time due to the conceptual nature of The Photon House we were supplied with a little less information. We worked up our 3D model from a plan and sectional drawing only. Then using the supplied photograph and a significant amount of post editing work we completed the image above. Which is currently being exhibited at The Building Centre, London.

Photon Pod in action!

Below is a very quick video which shows the post editing process; starting with the original supplied photograph, then working our magic until the final result is achieved. If you have any questions about any of our process, or ideas for future blog posts that you’d like to see, then we’d love to hear from you.
